Group Fitness Etiquette: Helping Everyone Enjoy Every Class
At West Wood Club you get over 4,500 free fitness classes every month across 24 group fitness studios and training zones in our six fitness clubs in Dublin.
Our classes are extremely popular. To ensure everyone enjoys a great workout, we ask all members to follow a few simple class etiquette guidelines.
These rules help keep classes fair, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
Before your Class
Arrive Early
Please arrive 5–10 minutes before the class starts so you have time to set up your equipment and be ready to begin with the warm-up.
Late arrivals can disrupt the class and may not be permitted to join once the session has started.
No Reserving Spaces
To keep classes fair for all members:
• Do not reserve spaces with towels, water bottles, or equipment
• Do not hold spaces for friends
• Members must be physically present to take a space
Leaving towels or equipment on bikes, mats, or steps to “hold” a place is not permitted.
If you are not in the studio, the space is considered available to other members.
Items Left to Reserve Spaces Will Be Removed
To ensure fairness for everyone, towels, water bottles, or equipment left to reserve spaces may be removed by staff.
Any items left on bikes, mats, or steps to hold a place will be removed 5 minutes before the class starts if the member is not present in the studio.
Members must be present in the studio to hold a space in the class.
Do Not Reserve Multiple Spaces
Placing towels or equipment to reserve multiple bikes, mats, steps, or workout stations is not allowed.
Every member should have the same opportunity to take part in a class.
What to Bring to Class
Sweat Towel (Required)
All members must bring a sweat towel to every class.
This is essential for hygiene and comfort in shared workout spaces.
Water Bottle
Please bring water to stay hydrated during your workout.
No Gym Bags
Gym bags are not permitted in fitness studios.
Please store all personal belongings in the changing room lockers before entering the class.
During your Class
Respect Personal Space
Please be mindful of the members around you and allow everyone enough room to move safely.
Mobile Phones
Fitness studios are phone-free training environments.
Phones should be on silent and not used during class unless absolutely necessary.
Follow the Instructor
Please follow the instructor’s guidance and the structure of the class.
Doing unrelated exercises in the studio can disrupt the flow of the class.
After your Class
Clean Your Equipment
Please wipe down all equipment after use.
This includes:
• Mats
• Dumbbells
• Weights bars
• Steps
• Bikes
• Any equipment used during the class
Cleaning wipes are provided in every studio.
Return Equipment
Please return all equipment to its correct storage area so the next class can start on time.
The Spirit of Our Classes
Group fitness should be energising, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.
A little consideration goes a long way.
Sweat. Smile. Enjoy the class. Respect your fellow members.
