Looking for a smarter and simpler way to train? Welcome to Les Mills Functional Strength — the revolutionary group fitness class that combines traditional lifting with real-life, multi-directional movement.
This class is your gateway to true functional fitness—training that helps you move better, lift stronger, and live with more confidence every day.
Les Mills Functional Strength is a 45-minute full-body workout designed to help you move better, feel stronger, and train safely—no matter your starting point. You’ll use simple strength exercises like squats, deadlifts, and presses, combined with natural movement patterns like lifting, twisting, and reaching.
It’s all about improving how your body works day to day—whether you’re exercising, working, or just living life. You don’t need experience, just a willingness to start.
It’s a full-body workout that combines compound strength lifts like squats, deadlifts, and presses with functional movement patterns that mimic the way your body naturally moves—twisting, lifting, reaching, and reacting. The result? A more resilient, powerful, and capable body.
Each class features:
Banded warm-ups to activate key muscles and improve mobility
Three blocks of supersets combining heavy lifts with dynamic movement
Explosive, athletic training to build both slow- and fast-twitch muscle fibres
Mobility and cool-down work to support recovery
And no – it’s not choreographed to music. You train at your own tempo, with smart structure and expert guidance.
Standard gym workouts often isolate muscles. But life demands more—twisting to pick up a toddler, balancing on a step ladder, sprinting for a bus. That’s where functional fitness training steps in.
Les Mills Functional Strength prepares your body for real-life challenges by training it the way it was designed to move: with power, balance, stability, and control. You don’t just look fit—you move like an athlete.
This class helps you:
Improve overall strength and power
Enhance coordination and mobility
Train your body for life, not just the gym
Reduce injury risk with better movement mechanics
Boost sports performance and physical confidence
It’s strength with purpose. Movement with intent.
You don’t need to be fit—you just need to want to get stronger.
Whether you’re a regular weight trainer or a total beginner, Les Mills Functional Strength is for you. Every class is fully scalable. Instructors guide you through safe form, teach modifications, and encourage you to move at your own pace.
Never touched a barbell? No problem. Want to push to a new personal best? You can do that too.
Functional fitness isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress.
To see real results, we recommend taking this class two times per week. Because Functional Strength works the entire body and includes high-load lifting, rest days are important. You’ll recover faster, build muscle more effectively, and avoid burnout.
This class pairs beautifully with cardio, yoga, or Pilates—giving you a balanced weekly training plan.
Stronger lifts. Faster reactions. Better daily movement.
Members who train regularly with Les Mills Functional Strength report:
Noticeably stronger legs, back, chest, and core
Improved explosive strength and athleticism
More control and coordination in everyday movements
Less stiffness, fewer injuries, and faster recovery
Greater confidence on the gym floor
You’ll lift more. Move better. And feel like your body is working for you—not against you.
Because functional fitness deserves expert coaching and a world-class space.
At West Wood Club, we don’t just offer workouts—we offer performance. Our Les Mills Functional Strength classes are run by highly trained coaches, in fully equipped studios, with supportive community energy.
